High-quality liquid packaging. Good to the last drop.
As one of the world’s leading heavy equipment manufacturers, Caterpillar delivers coolant around the globe to help keep its engines running smoothly. More than 3.5 million gallons are distributed annually — enough to fill six Olympic-sized swimming pools, or 400 tanker trucks.
To package that much product, Caterpillar sought a single resource that could meet its quality and delivery standards through turnkey services.
Caterpillar selected Group O to handle its coolant packaging in 1999. Group O operates automated filling lines, with format flexibility to accommodate different packages — from gallon-sized bottles to industrial-sized barrels and drums. Extensive quality processes ensure accurate fill weights, tamper prevention and easy lot traceability. Packaging is recyclable and returnable — and product is delivered around the globe, based on client needs.
As an important part of the Caterpillar — and Group O — brand promise, product quality is integral to the coolant packaging operation. Group O has met and exceeded Caterpillar’s expectations, delivering at a 6.62 Sigma level over the past two years, with zero defects. Group O also helped Caterpillar drive significant savings and reduce inventory costs by consolidating orders and shipping directly, worldwide — bypassing extra distribution touches.
Caterpillar recognized this level of performance by granting Group O
its coveted Platinum-level Supplier Quality Certification. Group O is
one of only 18 Caterpillar global suppliers (of more than 10,000)
to earn this certification. For Caterpillar and Group O,
the packaging operation gets the highest possible
seal of approval.
