Situation
Disappointed in the performance of its newly purchased stretch wrappers, a global consumer products manufacturer was seeking solutions to improve functionality, reduce material waste, and reduce costs.
Action
Group O packaging experts stepped in and conducted a SMART Audit® and discovered that the stretch wrappers were calibrated incorrectly causing an excessive amount of stretch film usage which resulted in less yield out of the stretch film.
The Group O team upgraded the pre-stretch gears on both stretch wrappers from 200% to 300% which improved the Force-to-Load containment and decreased the amount of stretch film usage.

Reduced annual stretch film spend by 37% or $196,724
Reduced the annual amount of stretch film used by 37% or 119,281 lbs.
To maintain these results, our team also installed a stretch film monitoring system, called HiLife 2.0, on each stretch wrapper to provide more control and visibility of the equipment’s usage and performance. This monitoring system can be added to any existing stretch wrapper.
