HiLife Monitoring System Gives Clients Real-Time Data to Save Big and Meet Sustainability Goals
Disappointed in the performance of its newly purchased stretch wrappers, a global consumer products manufacturer was seeking solutions to improve functionality, reduce material waste, and reduce costs.
Group O packaging experts stepped in and conducted a SMART Audit® and discovered that the stretch wrappers were calibrated incorrectly causing an excessive amount of stretch film usage which resulted in less yield out of the stretch film.
The Group O team upgraded the pre-stretch gears on both stretch wrappers from 200% to 300% which improved the Force-to-Load containment and decreased the amount of stretch film usage.
Reduced annual stretch film spend by 37% or $196,724
Reduced the annual amount of stretch film used by 37% or 119,281 lbs.
To maintain these results, our team also installed a stretch film monitoring system, called HiLife 2.0, on each stretch wrapper to provide more control and visibility of the equipment’s usage and performance. This monitoring system can be added to any existing stretch wrapper.
Benefits of HiLife 2.0 monitoring system:
Real-time access to 53 data points
Decreased product damage during transportation
Ability to monitor pallet consistency
Early notification of machine wear
Reduced amount of plastic used during each wrap
Improved ability to reach sustainability goals
Receive e-mail notifications when the wrapper is out of specified parameters
Bottom Line Impact
Group O’s SMART Audit® and technology solutions gives the client a clear view of how their equipment is performing and if they are on track to meet sustainability goals. The real-time data allows them to see that the stretch wrappers are properly wrapping every pallet, and ensuring the amount of material being used is optimized.
