Situation:
A major food & beverage company with different business units in locations throughout the United States is trying to rationalize its supply base in secondary/indirect packaging categories. The purchasing group has selected the stretch film category to pursue. The issue is that the purchasing group has sketchy details on both the films the plants are using as well as the equipment. The client needs a supplier who can offer a program to deliver not only information but savings.

In addition, a variety of performance metrics (film weight, containment, etc.) are shared, and recommendations are made to drive out cost for each application. We work closely with plant personnel to train them on equipment settings and how to gather performance data.

The client now has visibility to data they’ve never seen and can make better business decisions. At the line level, Group O Packaging is recommending & implementing unit cost savings up to 40% in some instances. At the plant level, optimized line performance produces more secure loads which helps to reduce damage claims. At the corporate level, contract compliance is nearly 100% as a result of our audit program which again allows sourcing groups to monitor usage & spending.
