Situation:
A client in the medical/pharmaceutical industry had numerous employees in different shifts placing orders via telephone, e-mail, and fax. The issue originates because the materials we supply are classified as “indirect/miscellaneous” by the client. These items are not purchased through their ERP system and therefore allowed the number of buyers to proliferate as well as the process they used to place orders. |
Solution:
Group O Packaging provided a web-based catalog where clients could log in and place orders, review open orders, and view invoicing/payment history. We worked closely with plant personnel to train them on using the tool. |
Result:
With this tool, the customer was able to standardize its purchasing practices for these indirect packaging materials. Order entry errors were reduced by 75% and phone call volumes decreased by 30% as the users had access to the information they traditionally called about. |
